On Saturday, May 11, 1996, San Francisco's Crissy Field will be transformed into a magic wonderland for inline skaters, skateboarders, BMX bikers, rock climbers and other "extreme" athletes as ESPNs "Extreme Games" comes to San Francisco.
The Extreme Games (now called the X Games Road Show) is making a 12 city tour to San Francisco, Boston, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago and other major cities. Each event is free and open to the public featuring the cutting edge of extreme sports. The public is invited to participate in supervised activities and competition in inline skating, skateboarding, freestyle biking, sport climbing and more.
Free inline skate clinics will be provided by the California Outdoor Rollerskating Association and the Golden Gate Park Skate Patrol. Meet Extreme Games inline athletes like Dan Burger and Anna Stubbs, who represented California in the Extreme Inline Downhill Race in New York.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 11, 1996 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Crissy Field in the Presidio.
This will be a very exciting and unique event. San Francisco needs a skatepark. This could be the spark that can lead to a skatepark in the Presidio. Come down and be a part of the leading edge of extreme sports.
